Final confirmation from SBTi about joining the initiative

We are happy to announce that Viking Malt has officially joined the Science Based Targets initiative. As of February 2023, we have received final confirmation from SBTi about our participation in this important initiative.

By signing up for Science Based Targets in 2022, we have committed to reducing our emissions by 42% by 2030, using 2021 as the base year. This science-based target places us amongst companies prioritizing sustainability and environmental responsibility in their operations.

Our aim is to limit our Scope 1 + Scope 2 emissions to 32,000 tons CO2 in 2030, and we have already implemented several measures to achieve this target. These include using renewable energy sources, improving energy and water efficiency, and reducing waste. We will continue exploring innovative ways to further reduce our carbon footprint and become more sustainable.

We are proud to be part of the Science Based Targets initiative and remain committed to driving positive change in the industry.

About the initiative

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a collaboration between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The SBTi defines and promotes best practice in science-based target setting and independently assesses companies’ targets.
