Viking Malt’s Malting Barley Crop Update 2026

For this year’s crop update, Viking Malt’s VP of Sourcing and Procurement Jirapha Liangsiri and our CEO Kasper Madsen visited Tosterup Farm in Sweden 🇸🇪, where they met with farm owner Jan Ehrensvärd to look back at the season and discuss the journey from minimum tillage towards regenerative farming.

In the video, you’ll hear what it takes to successfully grow malting barley in the Nordics and how the 2026 growing season has developed across our sourcing regions so far.

Harvests have already started in our countries – and in some, they are now completed.

The yield in general was at an average level. Overall, we expect good malting barley quality for the coming season, with protein levels in the range of 10–12.5% – giving us flexibility to meet different customer specifications.
