Viking Malt New Malting House Opening Ceremony
The brand new Viking Malt malting house in Lahti, Finland was officially opened on 23 May 2023. We had about 75 customers, suppliers and other co-operation partners participating at the festive Opening Ceremony.
The annual capacity of the new malting plant is about 85 000 tonnes and it replaces the old plant in Lahti. The new plant enables production of base malts, a wide selection of specialty malts, as well as Sprau®, Viking Malt’s malted faba bean innovation. In addition, the modern factory supports the sustainability strategy of Viking Malt with improved energy efficiency and a better working environment from a health and safety point of view.
“Building this new plant was a true team effort involving not only resources from Viking Malt but also a range of suppliers and the support of our customers. Managing such a complex project in times disrupted by both a pandemic and a war requires strong and reliable partners,” said CEO Kasper Madsen,
Pär-Gustaf Relander, owner and Chairman of the Board said that opening a new plant in Lahti, Finland, is a significant milestone in the Viking Malt’s history and a step forward in the company’s long term strategy building a sustainable business for the generations to come.
