Regenerative agriculture workshops for farmers in Poland

We launched a series of workshop meetings with malting barley producers in Poland. Participants are members of the Farm Management Group created by Viking Malt Poland. Its goal is to promote and develop a sustainable farm management system within the malting barley supply chain in Poland. The project is being implemented in collaboration with our partners from Yara Poland and SAATEN-UNION.

Training sessions are divided into three parts:

Principles of Regenerative Agriculture
The first presentation, delivered by our representative, covered the principles of regenerative agriculture in the context of malting barley cultivation. We introduced techniques and practices aimed at improving soil health, increasing biodiversity, and maintaining ecosystem balance.

Effective and practical fertilization of malting barley
Yara Poland presented a session on effective and practical fertilization of malting barley. Various strategies and fertilizer products were discussed, which can enhance yields and barley quality while ensuring sustainable soil resource management.

Cover Crops as a natural way to improve soil fertility
The final presentation, by Saaten-Union, addressed the use of cover crops as a natural method to improve soil fertility. The speaker focused mainly on the benefits of using cover crops, such as improving soil structure, increasing organic matter content, and preventing erosion.

The meeting concluded with an engaging Q&A session, during which participants had the opportunity to exchange experiences and gain additional insights on topics of interest. The training was highly rated as valuable and inspiring, which will undoubtedly contribute to the further development of sustainable agriculture among malting barley producers working with Viking Malt Poland.
