The time has come to introduce our malted faba bean, Sprau®, to our next home market!
Together with ReCraft Brewery, we are proud to present for the first time in Poland, two new Session NE IPA style beers — perfect for this groundbreaking premiere! This collaboration is a result of our shared vision and enthusiasm for exploring innovative trends in the beer industry.
This marks the beginning of a new beer series, designed to highlight the richness of this remarkable brewing plant. In both beers, the brewmaster from ReCraft Brewery used Sprau® as a key ingredient, paired with different hop varieties.
Sprau® was originally developed for the plant-based food sector, but our collaborations allow Sprau® to enter the world of brewing. In beer, Sprau® enhances mouthfeel, foam quality, and contributes to a well-balanced flavor profile.
By bringing faba beans into beer, we at Viking Malt want to support sustainable farming and biodiversity. Today, brewing relies heavily on cereal grains, mainly barley. However, the growing support for regenerative agriculture has made us aware of the need for better crop rotation. Including pulses – such as faba bean – into the crop rotation of a farm helps to improve soil quality and reduces the need for fertilizers.
