Viking Malt celebrates World Food Day as a proud Partner in the Sustain-a-bite Project!

On the occasion of 🌍 World Food Day, we are pleased to highlight our active participation in the Sustainabite EU Project. This initiative brings together leading organizations across Europe to advance the development of minimally processed, plant-based food ingredients and products, supporting the transition to healthier and more sustainable food systems.

Within Sustain-a-bite, we leverage our expertise in barley and pulses to explore innovative applications for food and beverage production. Barley, traditionally used in brewing and distilling, demonstrates significant potential as a nutritious source of protein and fiber for plant-based foods.

Through the application of minimal processing technology such as germination combined with non-thermal technologies, this innovative approach is maximizing process efficiency and safety, resulting in superior nutritional, structural, and sensory properties in the developed food prototypes.
